Big Mac Salad Recipe

My Husband LOVES this salad!!! Every time I make it he tells me how much he loves it and asks when I am going to make it again. I love that it takes minutes to prepare.

I try to bulk prepare the ground beef hamburger at the beginning of the week depending on what I have on our meal plan for the week. Premaking the hamburger and having it ready saves so much time and makes tossing this salad together a breeze.

Early on during this past years stay at home orders I bought myself a vegetable chopper specifically because I hate chopping onions. I am an onion crier. When I get done chopping onions my eyes are red and I look like I have been sobbing for a while. Knowing I was going to be cooking a ton at home I finally bought this vegetable chopper and it is my kitchen BFF.

This remake of a classic fast-food burger without the bun is a delicious way to enjoy classic Big Mac flavors without the guilt. The perfect combination of lettuce, tomato, Big Mca Sauce, pickles, and ground beef without the sesame seed bun.

Ingredients

  • Lean Ground Beef
  • White Onion
  • Lettuce
  • Tomatoes
  • Dill Pickle Slices
  • Cheddar Cheese
  • Big Mac Sauce
  • Salt and pepper - to taste

Optional - you can add in Bacon if you want to make a bacon cheeseburger salad without the bun.

Lean Ground Beef - You could also make this recipe with ground turkey or ground chicken

Equipment Needed

Skillet - to brown the ground beef

Recipe Tips

We make the Big Mac Sauce the day before we make this salad so it has time to rest in the fridge and the flavors meld together.

I like to serve this recipe with the ingredients divided into the bowl and then toss them right before serving. There is just something about the presentation of all the ingredients laid out in the bowl.

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cups ground beef cooked and drained, about ½ pound
  • 1 white onion chopped
  • 6-8 cups lettuce chopped
  • 30 dill pickle slices
  • 4 Roma Tomatoes chopped
  • ¼ cup Cheddar Cheese shredded
  • ¼ cup Big Mac Sauce

Instructions

  • Prepare Big Mac Sauce and set it in the fridge
  • Prepare ground beef, drain and set to the side
  • Chop all of the veggies and gather all the ingredients.
  • Add all ingredients to a salad bowl, you can serve the Big Mac Sauce over the top or on the side.
