This past year spaghetti has become our go-to easy comfort food dinner. We pair it with great wine and relax over a nice plate of spaghetti with a side of garlic bread.

I had this moment one night of wondering why I haven't combined the garlic bread and the spaghetti into one epic baked spaghetti dish.

This is like a soup and bread bowl combo but with noodles, sauce, and garlic bread. Hello yum!

We pair this with a side salad for a side dish and a quick and easy dessert like this tiramisu.

I would say that this will feed 4-6 people easily especially when paired with a side salad. That being said if you are feeding teenage boys or someone who LOVES Spaghetti you may want to make two loaves of spaghetti stuffed into garlic bread.

There will be more than enough spaghetti and marinara sauce to make 2 loaves easily.

bread loaf, spaghetti, butter, mozzarella cheese, parmesan cheese, Rao's sauce, garlic and Italian seasoning

    Ingredients
    • French Bread Loaf
    • Butter
    • Italian Seasoning
    • Garlic Powder
    • Spaghetti Noodles
    • Marinara Sauce
    • Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Optional add-ins - ricotta cheese, parmesan cheese, ground beef, sausage, meatballs,

French Bread - I used a fresh loaf of French Bread from our local grocery store. You want to use a loaf that is big enough to cut into and have space for the spaghetti.

Spaghetti - I use spaghetti for this recipe but you can easily use whatever pasta you have on hand. Spaghetti holds its shape and fills the garlic bread bowl really nicely. You will want to use pasta that stays in place.

Marinara Sauce - I used Rao's Marinara but you can use your favorite spaghetti sauce. We also love Olive Garden Marinara Sauce and Crockpot Marinara Sauce.

Ground Beef - You can definitely add cooked ground beef in a skillet combined with the marinara sauce. Just make sure to drain off any excess fat before adding the sauce to the large skillet.

    Kitchen Equipment Needed

    Baking Sheet

    Parchment Paper

    Bread Knife

    Small bowl

spaghetti in a loaf of bread

Stuff the spaghetti as much as you can. It can push over the top a little bit but you want to be able to spread mozzarella cheese over the top and not have it all fall off.

Mozzarella cheese and seasoning on top of a loaf of bread

Pile the mozzarella on top and add in a bit of parmesan cheese and more Italian Seasoning. You can add in more garlic powder or minced garlic if you want to add even more garlic flavor.

Melted cheese over spaghetti in a loaf of bread

Serve this baked spaghetti in Garlic Bread on a cutting board or platter. I find it easiest to serve on a cutting board so you can slice pieces easily without having to worry about messing up a platter or counter.

    Recipe Tips

Don't forget to preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

This is a recipe you can easily adapt to your favorites. Change up the marina sauce for meat sauce.

Add in meatballs or sausage for extra flavor.

You will have leftover spaghetti noodles and tomato sauce. You can easily use it to make a 2nd Spaghetti Stuffed Garlic Bread as long as you are serving it that night.

This is a recipe that is best prepared right before you make it. You can premake the spaghetti and sauce and store them in the refrigerator until you are ready to use them. Hold off on putting the spaghetti and tomato sauce into the bread loaf until right when you are going to bake it.

If you add in the spaghetti and sauce to early the sauce will get absorbed by the bread and change the texture and you will lose the crunch sides of the garlic bread.

Unfortunately, this recipe does not freeze well. The pasta texture changes and it is not fantastic.

If you want to make a 2nd loaf later in the week I would suggest keeping the bread and spaghetti separate from each other until you are ready to bake them together.
