I am going to try this next week. What did you serve with it?
Going to try this. Sounds great. What about Frito casserole?
This was so great! I substituted ground turkey instead of beef for a healthier option. Other than that, I followed the recipe exactly and found I did not like the texture of the tortillas at all. I used soft taco size flour ones if anyone is wondering. They were very mushy and slimy, and I actually ate AROUND them. If you need to incorporate tortillas, I would (and did) fill some with this and roll it up burrito style. My personal favorite though is to eat this dip style with tortilla chips. Thank you for the recipe!
Did you use flour or corn tortillas?
You didn’t specify on the tortillas , Corn or flour?
Does the meat need to be browned before being put in the Crockpot?
The recipe says browned ground beef.
Do you brown the ground beef??
Could you also add refried beans to this??
I added cream of cheese instead of onion. I was thinking about adding retired beans to it but was afaid it would dry out. Hope this is good!
Does anyone know if flour or corn tortillas are used? Large or small?
Is the meet to be browned before cooking in the crock pot for 8 hours?
How many does this serve?
My only suggestion is maybe to wait until an hour before serving to add the tortilla strips. If you add them in the beginning, they will turn to mush by the time you serve it. It’s such a quick, easy, and delicious recipe though! Thanks for sharing this.
Any replacement for cream of onion soup? Not an onion fan
You could try any cream soup
Do I cook the meat first??!!
Made this tonight for dinner. Turned out amazing! My only suggestion would be to hold off adding the tortillas till closer to the end to prevent them from turning to mush.
Did you use flour or corn tortillas?
I used flour tortillas. You could easily use corn tortillas if you prefer.
My mouth just watered a little bit. I haven’t had lunch yet and that made me hungry!
My husband would go wild for this. He loves all things taco!
I keep saying I need to buy a crockpot because I love recipes like this!
Tammilee I love this idea. I could use more recipies like this in the winter. Love comfort food, thanks 🙂
That is my kind of recipe – love the simplicity. It is perfect for the season for sure
I always keep a can of Ro-tel in the pantry…it is amazingly versatile! Looks tasty!
