My family loved this recipe. I altered the recipe a little as I browned the hamburger with a tablespoon of garlic salt. Also about an hour before serving I boiled the pasta Al dente about 12 minutes then added to the other ingredients. Added the cheese the last 20 minutes, then served my family. This is definitely a do-over in my house!
Exactly what the taste buds wanted....added diced green peppers as well...and of course....extra cheese...PERFECT
Looks so delicious! I need to make this soooon!
Super easy super good. I also cook on Stove top and I’m using mozzarellas cheese
why do you make your recipes so freaking hard to print? It’s nuts! Makes me just look for a copy cat recipe somewhere else.
Hi, Can you tell me what troubles you are having with printing? You should be able to press the print button and have it load in a new page to print.
Rather than cooking in a Crock-Pot, I cooked onions and browned meat in a skillet. Drained the fat, put meat and onions back into the skillet, added the rest of ingredients (minus pasta) and simmered for about 30 minutes. Added pasta and cheese. Stirred and served one delicious meal.
I can't see cooking cooked meat for 8 hours in a Crock-Pot.
Thank you for the tip! I was wondering too about waiting for a recipe like this in the Crock-Pot, I may try another time just to see how that turns out, but this was quick and easy. It turned out good, I would make again, thank you to the original poster of the recipe as well!!
Can the sauce be frozen, without the pasta of course.
luv pastas ..added one jar Emerils kicked up tomato spaghetti sauce one can tomato sauce one large can chopped tomatoes plus teaspoon Italian seasoning and Basil added to the rest of your receipe..yep awesome
what can I use if I don't any dry mustard
How many servings?
A hearty recipe, Tammilee! My family, friends and I really enjoyed it at last night's dinner party. It's a lovely meal to enjoy on a cold winter night. I just replaced the tomato sauce with tomato paste as I like my Penne pasta meals to be covered in thick sauce.
Maria, I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe! I love the change to tomato paste for it to be a thicker sauce.
Cooked this following the recipe. I'm glad that I slowly stirred the noodles in, because one pound of noodles would have been too much. Next time I will double the meat mixture.
This doesn't really sound like a crock pot recipe. Why not just cook everything in the skillet?
Did you ever try it this way?
I simmered it for 30 minutes and then mixed in the pasta. My family loved it and said I should make it more often!
Could you not cook the pasta with the beef mixture?
That is what I am going to try. Uncooked pasta first then the meat sauce on the top with a little cheese. Will add a bit of water for pasta absorption.
Thank you so much for this recipe! I made it tonight and it was delicious. Would definitely double the recipe to allow for more leftovers 🙂
Sarah, I am so glad you enjoyed the recipe!
Are you supposed to drain the grease from the meat before adding it in the crockpot?
Yes, drain the grease and just add the browned hamburger to the crock pot.
Does it require the full 8 hours? Or would 4 suffice?
You may be able to do it at 4 hours. I would change the temperature and check it to make sure it doesn't burn.
Found this on Pinterest. It was very tasty. I made mine on the stove top and simmered it for about 2 hours. I ended up adding water when it got too thick and simmered it more. My 4 year old gobbled it up! Thanks for the recipe.
Best Crock Pots
I tried this at home except Canola oil, used other oil. It came pretty well thanks for sharing.
I would love to be able to print your recipes without all of the delicious pictures. They use up too much ink.
There should be a recipe card at the bottom of each post that lets you print the recipe without all of the photos. Please let me know if this is not showing for you.
How many cans of the diced tomatoes should you put in? I used one. Mine burnt . What I was able to save tasted good. I figured not enought liquid. So how many cans? Thanks
It calls for one 14 1/2 oz. can. Crock pots all cook different - some cook hot and fast and some not so much. I have four and they all cook differently. You may need to add a little water or decrease cook time. Since everything is already cooked there is no reason for 8 hours. Be sure to cook on low setting also. Hope this helps!
You can copy and paste just the text onto any word type program(even an email) and just print without pictures!!! 🙂
This is an easy skillet meal. Why would you need 8 hours in a crock pot when the meat is already cooked and the pasta has to be cooked later and then added?
That is just something I wouldn't be able to pass - gimme the plate
This sounds amazing, like sooooo darn delish! YUMMMM! For me, I would lighten it up a but with lean ground beef and spaghetti squash! Great work!
I am always collecting crock pot recipes! Thanks for sharing this with me from SU!
