Homemade Dr. Pepper Floats

These Dr. Pepper Floats can be made with regular Dr. Pepper or Dr. Pepper Vanilla depending on your favorite flavor.

These are a fun twist on a classic ice cream float. Change it up from the normal Root Beer Float and use Dr. Pepper instead.

Truly you could use any of your favorite sodas to make a great ice cream float.

These soda floats are the perfect easy sweet treat! So quick and easy to make and they always taste amazing. I love that you get to decide how much ice cream you want and what flavor you want to use.

While working on this post I learned that the Dr Pepper Museum in Waco, Texas is the original home of the Dr Pepper Float. They recommend the classic combination of Dr Pepper and Blue Bell Homemade Vanilla Ice Cream to make an epic float.

I have to admit I am a little sad we missed the Dr Pepper Museum when we visited Waco Mammoth National Monument and enjoyed breakfast at Magnolia Table.

Did you know Dr pepper was created, manufactured and started being sold back in 1885 in Waco, Texas? It was started at the Morrison's Old Corner Drug Store.

Dr Pepper is the oldest of the major brand soft drinks in the United States.

Ingredients

Vanilla Ice Cream

Dr. Pepper Soda

You can use any flavor of Dr. Pepper you love! This would be fantastic with Dr. Pepper Cherry, cherry vanilla, or any flavor would make a great Dr. Pepper float.

You can change it up and use your favorite soda to make this great float recipe.

Equipment Needed

Ice Cream Scoop

Mason Jars/Glasses

Paper milkshake straws - if you are serving this at a party or want to make them look like you are at an ice cream counter I love these paper milkshake straws.

Recipe Tips

Feel free to change this recipe up with more or less ice cream depending on how you are feeling.

Pour Dr. Pepper float slowly so the foam does not overflow from the glass.

You can set up a fun Ice Cream Float bar by setting out glasses, ice cream flavors, and different sodas so guests can make their own ice cream float creations.

A float bar is the perfect college football season game day dessert! Everyone can create their own perfect float and all you have to do is get everything set up and let your guests have fun.
