Lemon Drop Martini Recipe

Lemon Drop Martini's are my go-to drink order when we go out especially when I don't know if the restaurant has a good bar program. They are the perfect test cocktail to see if I want to dive into a more complicated cocktail from the bar.

While these are super easy to make they can also be easy to mess up. To make a classic lemon drop you want to make sure you balance the tart and sweet flavors. To much sugar on the rim and the drink can be overly sweet but if you don't have enough you can get the pucker factor of straight lemon juice.

You only need three ingredients to make this martini. Freshly squeezed lemon juice helps make this martini taste amazing, You can use lemon juice from a bottle but it may not taste as fresh and delicious as a fresh lemon does,

Quality vodka makes a huge difference in the flavor of this classic cocktail. The perfect lemon is also a factor. You want to get fresh lemons for this recipe.

You will need a great cocktail shaker for this recipe. Please make sure it is one that you can easily hold with two hands while shaking vigorously. I have heard so many horror stories of people not holding their shakers with two hands and having them come apart while shaking.

Ingredients

  • Fresh lemon juice
  • Vodka
  • Sugar
  • Lemon
  • Ice cubes

Garnish - Lemon Twist on a sugared rimmed glass or a lemon wedge on the edge of a martini glass

For a fun twist on this classic cocktail, you can use a citrus vodka for more flavor.

You can also make a strawberry lemon drop by using triple sec and fresh strawberries. You will need to muddle the strawberries in the bottom of the cocktail shaker before adding in the vodka and lemon juice.
