I am all about simple, easy recipes that taste amazing! Have you seen the 2 ingredient Pineapple Angel Food Cake? Oh, my goodness delightful and amazing!

This apple dessert recipe is so dang easy and tastes amazing! I was a bit worried when I pulled it out of the oven that it was not done. There are parts of the cake mix that are really flaky and do not look baked. One bite and I was in Apple Dump Cake bliss! Oh my goodness, this is so dang good.

Do you see the missing part at the bottom of the cake pan? Yep, John and I tried it out and ate a bunch of it before I realized I had not taken a picture of it.

It is hard to believe I first shared this recipe back in March 2013! This was the catalyst to me loving dump cake recipes.

So much so that we have now made a ton of Crock Pot Dump Cake Recipes that I know you will love! I just love how easy these dump cake recipes are to make and how great they taste. So perfect for everything from family dinner to a fall party or event.

I made this with fresh apples but you can easily use cans of apple pie filling to make this recipe. Topping this cake with whipped cream is delish! To make it even more decadent swirl caramel sauce over the top and serve with vanilla ice cream.

This delicious recipe is so dang easy to make and always tastes amazing.

You can even add in cinnamon, caramel, or other mix-ins to make a new flavor of Apple Dump Cake!

Apples, Yellow Cake mix, and butter in a glass baking dish

Ingredients needed for Apple Dump Cake

    • Baking Apples
    • Yellow dry cake mix or spice cake mix
    • Stick of butter

    Equipment Needed

Microwave Silicone cover - I swear by these lid covers to help prevent butter splatters when melting butter in the microwave. I have had way too many butter explosions while baking. These lid covers help keep the butter in the bowl and not on the roof of your microwave.

Heat resistant potholdersย - A couple of years ago we had a fire scare when we didn't realize we had turned a burner on and a cloth potholder caught fire. Thankfully we walked by the kitchen and saw the smoke and were able to get it out ourselves. Since then we have only used these heat-resistant potholders.

How to make an Apple Dump Cake

    Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Sliced apples in a glass baking dish
Slice apples, I used anย Apple Corer to make it easier, spread slices on the bottom of your baking dish that has been coated with cooking spray.

Make sure you use a big enough baking dish you can spread the apples and cake mix out. If you use a smaller baking dish the cake mix can get really thick in sections.
