My husband LOVES peanut Butter. It is his go-to favorite when it comes to desserts or even just enjoying a spoonful of it for a snack. This week I decided it was time to make some new peanut butter treats.
With being home so much I am always trying to surprise my husband with sweet treats or fun baked goods. I love baking and find it a total stress relief to play in the kitchen and experiment with flavors.
This past year spending time in the kitchen working on new recipes and adapting old recipes has been so good for my soul. Do you find yourself cooking and baking more now?
These Peanut Butter Rice Krispie Bars are so easy to make with only four ingredients needed! That being said you can totally jazz these up to your heart's content.
Craving a bit of chocolate to go with your peanut butter Rice Krispie treats don't worry you can melt chocolate chips and spread them over the top of these epic peanut butter bars.
You can also break up Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and add them into the mix. I am thinking about sandwiching Reese's Peanut Butter Cups between these peanut butter krispie treats the next time I make them.
So many fun ideas for how to jazz these up even more. Oooo they would also be good with chocolate chips stirred in when you add the rice krispies.
You may be seeing a ton of these treats with additions soon. lol
Ingredients Needed
- Butter
- Mini Marshmallows
- Peanut Butter
- Rice Krispies Cereal
I use regular rice krispies but you can also make these with cocoa krispies.
Equipment Needed
Sauce pan - Make sure you use a saucepan or pot that is big enough to handle all of the rice krispies when you mix them in.
Wooden Spoon - I like using a wooden spoon when I make rice krispie treats
9x13 baking dish - This is the perfect size for this recipe. You can use a 8x8 pan if you want thicker treats
Parchment Paper - I am a huge fan of using parchment paper to make clean up and serving so much easier. You can also use wax paper but I feel like parchment paper works the best.
Recipe tips
We use creamy peanut butter for this recipe. I would think crunchy peanut butter would also work but we have not tried it yet.
This recipe uses 1 regular size bag of mini marshmallows. The recipe card below has them measured out to 5 cups which is equal to a regular size mini marshmallow bag.
I spray a bit of cooking spray into the pan before I put parchment paper down to help hold it in place.
You can spray your hands with a bit of cooking spray which will help press the mixture down into the baking dish and keep it from sticking to your hands.
The Rice Krispie Peanut Butter Treats can be stored at room temperature.
