    Bali adventure with Groupon

Published: Apr 29, 2015 · Updated: Dec 16, 2020 by Tammilee · This post may contain affiliate links

This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Groupon Getaways

I am so sad to see our Bali Groupon Getaways come to an end. This trip has been so much more than we could have ever hoped for when we booked it.  The sites, the food, the people, everything in Bali has truly exceeded our expectations. Our first two days on the island were spent enjoying the beach and taking a cooking class.

    Bali adventure with Groupon

One of the cool things we have been able to do in Bali is meet with the tour guide my parents had over 10 years ago when they were on the island. They have stayed friends over the years via email and Facebook and we were able to connect with him on the island. He spent two days showing us the true beauty of Bali.

We visited the UNESCO World Heritage site in central Bali the Jatiluwah rice paddies. It was amazing to see so many lush green rice paddies. We learned that there are two types of rice being planted right now. Bali rice and Hybrid rice are the two types of rice. Hybrid rice has a quicker growing season and is starting to be the predominant crop.

During our visit to the rice paddies we had lunch at an amazing restaurant overlooking the fields  There were dragonflies dancing over the fields and you could hear the water working through the fields. One of the most amazing lunches I have ever experienced.

After the rice paddies, our guide took us to the amazing Ulun Danu Beratan Lake Temple on a lake near the mountains. The area was filled with students on field trips from the island of Java. There were swan boats you could rent to paddle around the lake and speed boat rides. We loved wandering through the gardens and exploring the area.

One of the places we really wanted to visit during our trip to Bali was Tanah Lot. The temple is only accessible for part of the day depending on the tide.

We were so happy when we arrived for sunset and were able to walk around the temple. There was an area with sea snakes you could get close to but we skipped it. I figured poisonous snakes did not need to be part of our dream trip.

One of the biggest surprises of our trip was the Saraswati Temple. We asked our driver to stop at Starbucks so we could pick up a few gifts. You can imagine our surprise when we walked around the corner and found this temple. The water was filled with these gorgeous Lotus Flowers.

One of the best parts of our Groupon Getaways was that we had the chance to stay in two different parts of Bali. Groupon  arranged for a driver to pick up us and move us from one area to the next.

The best part was the day also included a tour and visit to see a Barong Dance performance. The Barong Dance performance was truly amazing. The costumes were so intricate and beautiful.

Our Groupon trip included an arranged tour driver who also took us to visit the famous Monkey Forest in Ubud. I had no idea there were 600+ monkeys here. Everywhere you look there are monkeys.

Thankfully our driver told us to pull out our water bottles and any food from my purse so the monkeys couldn't smell it and want to get it. We saw a few people lose their water bottles to a cheeky monkey.

We have been staying at the Anini Raka Spa and Hotel as part of the Groupon Getaways. The hotel is right next to the rice paddies. The picture above was taken right outside our room watching the sunrise. We have truly enjoyed our time at the hotel.

During one of our day tours from Ubud, we had the chance to visit the Elephant Cave. This cave is open and you can walk inside though thankfully it is not that far into the cave. The area is beautiful and you get the chance to see a truly amazing temple.

After the Elephant Cave, we headed to Tirta Gannga Water Palace. It was pouring down rain during our visit but that did not stop us from exploring. The grounds were absolutely stunning. By the time we got back in the car, we were drenched and laughing.

We have truly enjoyed our Groupon Getaways to Bali. The trip has been so much fun and truly exceeded our hopes. It was super easy finding the deal on Groupon . We are already looking to see what the next adventure we want to book is. There are so many amazing air-inclusive travel deals on Groupon . I see lots of time being spent dreaming of our next dream trip.

An adventure to Bali is one I KNOW I would never forget. The photography of the place is so stunning. I mean, the architecture there is simply unreal, isn't it? I LOVE the monkeys too, so sweet. But I'd be afraid they'd bite me hehe
