Chocolate Covered Potato Chips

I love making DIY Food gifts for friends and family. It is such an amazing way to share some fun from your kitchen.

I especially love it when the gift is easy to make and tastes amazing. The salty combination of salty potato chips and decadent chocolate is so good!

These chocolate dipped chips make an epic snack.

Ingredients

  • Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips/Chocolate melting wafers
  • Potato Chips with ridges

We use Ghirardelli chocolate melting wafers and love how easy they are to use. You can make this recipe with dark chocolate, milk chocolate, or white chocolate.

Potato Chips - You can use any of your favorite potato chips. We used Ruffles because we like the way the ridge look and they capture extra chocolate in them. Kettle chips or baked chips should work great you just want to make sure they don't have powder flavoring on them.

Optional Toppings - If you wan to dress up your chocolate-covered potato chips you can drizzle white chocolate, peanut butter, caramel, or dust with sprinkles, coconut, crushed nuts, or chopped dried fruit.

We added the heart shape candies since we were giving these as a gift and thought the hearts added a little fun to random potato chips.

Equipment Needed

Microwave safe bowl - We are big fans of this glass batter bowl that has a handle. It makes it easy to mix ingredients and keeps the mixing bowl steady on the counter.

Parchment paper -  I love that I can use parchment paper to help make it easier to remove the chocolate covered chips. They also make clean-up a breeze. If you are not using parchment paper you will want to spray non-stick cooking spray on your baking sheet to help the cookies not stick.

Baking Sheet - We are huge fans of these baking sheets with sides. You don't have to worry you will lose all the chips to the floor when you move them.

Step 2 - Carefully dip the end of the chip into the melted chocolate. Allow excess chocolate to drip back into the bowl from the dipped chip before placing them on parchment lined baking sheet.

Recipe Tips

Store the Chocolate covered Chips in the fridge in an airtight container. Make sure the chips have cooled to room temperature before storing them.

If you want a bit more saltiness you can sprinkle the ends with sea salt.

This recipe can be adapted to use make chocolate covered pretzels

Store potato chips covered in chocolate in an air tight container and room temperature. You do not want to store them in the refrigerator since the chips can get soggy.
