Smores Golden Graham Bars
These Golden Graham Smores Bars are so easy to make and taste amazing. I made these for a road trip to Glacier National Park in Montana.
We love visiting Montana any chance we get. How can you go wrong spending time sitting next to Lake McDonald gazing at the mountains?
It wasn't as warm as visiting in the summer but Glacier National Park winters are still gorgeous.
I did have a moment while making these Golden Grahams Bars...LOL! The box of Golden Grahams said they were retro and had a fun throwback vibe.
In my mind, I was thinking 60's maybe early 70's throwback...nope! Full-on 80s throwback which made me feel my age just a bit. It was one of those moments when I had to take a moment and admit that my childhood years are now considered throwback years.
I fully embrace being 44 but there are days that seeing the 80s are a throwback definitely makes you pause.
Granted I could totally find photos from the 80s wearing pink acid-washed jeans and blue eye shadow if I wanted to but I am pretty sure those never need to be shared on the internets. LOL!
My husband commented that his favorite songs from growing up are now playing on the "oldies" radio channel now. Which I also didn't feel like admitting but is probably true.
I am just happy we are healthy and happy and can enjoy our 40s with a laugh and a smile.
These Golden Graham Smore Bars are so delicious and perfect and easy and now I am wondering why I haven't shared them before. With a retired park ranger husband, I have made so many variations of smores since we got married it is a bit crazy. Have you seen the Smores Brownies we shared a while ago? Hello yum!
Now that John is retired from being a park ranger I still make smores treats as a fun way to remember his 20 years in parks.
- Mini Marshmallows
- Golden Graham Cereals
- Chocolate Chips
9x13 casserole pan
How to make Golden Graham Smore Bars
Melt butter in a large pot on medium heat. You want to slowly melt the butter so it doesn't burn.
When the butter is completely melted add in the mini marshmallows and stir until they melt
Once the marshmallows are melted remove from heat and stir in the golden graham cracker cereal.
When the Golden Grahams are coated add in a cup of marshmallows and the chocolate chips and stir gently. Don't stir too much or the chocolate will melt all over the cereal mixture.
Pour cereal treats into a 9x13 casserole dish that has been sprayed with non-stick cooking spray.
Store your cereal treats covered at room temperature. You do not want to store these in the refrigerator. They will turn rock hard and not have the soft gooey marshmallow texture you want.
Make sure to set some marshmallows and the chocolate chips to the side so you can add them in at the end. This way you can see the chunks of marshmallows in the bars.
You can melt the chocolate chips into the marshmallow cereal mix if you want every piece to be coated in chocolate goodness.
Gently press the mixture into the baking pan. You can spray your fingertips with non-stick spray to help push them in gently.
