We have been making a ton of mummy and ghost treats for Halloween. Most of them have been cookie or sweet treat based.

I wanted to make Ghost Strawberries to add a bit of fruit to our Halloween platter. I love the pop of red from the strawberries when the rest of the platter is filled with cookies and treats.

These are so easy to make and taste amazing! I love serving these at our Halloween Party.

This year we dove into making as many easy Halloween recipes as we possibly could. We now have over 60 fun adorable Halloween ideas ready for you.

This time of year is all about the spooky season before we diving into Thanksgiving and Christmas. Our neighbors have webbing all over their house and flashing lights.

I am going to admit that every morning I jump a bit when I see the flashing lights from my office. It is a bit creepy to see goblins and mummies in their yard.

Chocolate covered strawberry ghosts ingredients strawberries, vanilla candy coating, and icing pen on parchment paper

    Ingredients

    • Fresh Strawberries (Check out all of our strawberry recipes)
    • Candy Melt/Almond Bark/Candy Quick
    • Icing Pen or mini chocolate chips for the eyes.

    Equipment Needed

Baking Sheets - We are huge fans of these baking sheets with sides. You don't have to worry; you will move the strawberries and have them slide right off.

Parchment Paper -ย  I love that I can use parchment paper to help make clean-up a breeze.

    How to make Strawberry Ghosts

Step 1 - Gather all of the ingredients, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Step 2 - Microwave candy melt/almond bark/white chocolate in 30 second intervals stir after every interval until completely melted.

Make sure to use a microwave-safe bowl.

Step 3 - Dip strawberries in melted chocolate until nicely coated. Place on Parchment paper to set.

To create ghosts' tails you can spread a bit of white chocolate on the parchment before placing the chocolate-covered strawberries on it or you can heavy dip the strawberries and not let the excess chocolate dip off.

Step 4 - Draw ghost eyes and a mouth on the front of the strawberry.

    Preparation and Storage

Make Ahead โ€“These can be stored in the fridge for a day or two in an airtight container. Make sure to wait to pipe on the face on. If there is any condensation in the container your ghost face may start drooping down the strawberry.

Place a paper towel on the bottom of the containers to help absorb any extra moisture.

Storage โ€“ Store in an airtight container at room temperature if you plan to serve them the same day. Make sure the strawberries are completely dry.

Freezing/How to freeze โ€“ We do not suggest freezing chocolate covered strawberries because the texture can change. If you choose to freeze them you will want to enjoy them frozen. When they start to thaw they will become mushy.

    Recipe Variations

Substitutions - Change the type of chocolate used, try different colored candy melts.

Vegetarian Option - This recipe is vegetarian.

Vegan Option โ€“ Use vegan white chocolate or confirm that the almond bark is vegan.

Gluten Free - Double check the candy melt/almond bark package to make sure it is Gluten-Free

Smaller Serving Size โ€“ This recipe can be shrunk to make a smaller serving size.

Larger Group/More servings โ€“This recipe can easily be doubled for a larger group or party.

    Recipes Tips

If you are going to store these in the fridge before serving do not put the eyes and mouth on until right before you serve them. The moisture in the fridge will cause the black icing to spread down the front of the strawberry and make it look like a sad clown.

Store in an airtight container or storage bag.

If you don't have parchment paper/wax paper you can place these on a cooling rack just make sure you put a baking sheet under it to catch the excess melted almond bark/candy melts.
