I love making quick and easy Halloween treats! These whimsical Halloween Spider Donut are so cute and fun to make.
Kids will love starting Halloween morning with this fun no bake treat. I love that you can get all of the ingredients at your local grocery store or Target.
These are fantastic for Halloween parties! How can you go wrong with adorable spider donuts?
Ingredients
This is a quick overview of the simple ingredients that you'll need to make an epic Spider Doughnut! Specific measurements and step-by-step instructions are included in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.
- Chocolate Donuts/ Mini donuts
- Pretzels
- Candy Eyeballs// mini M&Ms
- Black Icing/Chocolate Chips
Donuts - We used Hostess Donettes but you can also use Little Debbie Mini Frosted Chocolate Donuts or TastyKake Frosted Mini Donuts
Pretzels - You can use twist pretzels or pretzel sticks depending on the shape of spider legs you want.
Equipment Needed
Baking Sheets - We are huge fans of these baking sheets with sides
Parchment Paper - I love that I can use parchment paper to help make clean-up a breeze.

How to make Spider Donuts
I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.
Step 1 - Prep all of the ingredients, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Break pretzels so you have a stack of spider legs ready.
Step 2 - Insert pretzels into the side of the donut until you have 8 spider legs.
Step 3 - Add a drop/dots of melted chocolate or chocolate icing to the top of the chocolate donut and attach the candy eyeballs or mini M&Ms.
Step 4 - Enjoy!
Recipe Tips
Spider Pretzel Legs - The hardest part of this Halloween treat recipe is getting the spider legs from the pretzels. I tried to cut them with a sharp knife and it broke the entire pretzel. I found the best way to create the legs is to hold the portion you want to turn into a spider leg and break it off the main part of the pretzel. Be prepare for some random pretzel pieces to happen.
Spider Eyes - We like the look of the candy eyes but you can also use mini M&Ms to create colorful eyes depending on the spider look you are going for.
Spider Body - We used Hostess Frosted Chocolate Mini Donettes for the body. You could make mini spider donuts by using a chocolate donut holes.
Preparation and Storage
Make Ahead – These can be made ahead of time and should be stored in an airtight container. I will say they taste best the sooner you enjoy them.
Storage – Store in an airtight container at room temperature.
Freezing/How to freeze – We do not suggest freezing these.
Recipe Variations
Substitutions - Use frosting to hold the eyes on the top of the donut. Use orange icing to make the eyes pop or a chocolate drizzle.
You can draw on a friendly smile with an icing pen for fun.
Vegetarian Option - This recipe is vegetarian.
Vegan Option – Use vegan chocolate donuts. Make sure to check the ingredients and confirm they are vegan.
Gluten Free - Use gluten free donuts, make sure to check the ingredients to confirm they are gluten free and no cross contamination.
Smaller Serving Size – This recipe can be used to make 1 or a 100 spider doughnuts.
Larger Group/More servings – This recipe can be used to make 1 or a 100 spider doughnuts. Just make sure you have enough containers to store them in.
