    This easy, four-ingredient Crockpot Brown Sugar Kielbasa is a great party appetizer. You can make this spicy if you want a hint of kick to balance out the sweetness.

    If you have been following the blog for a while, you know that I love Kielbasa Recipes and CrockPot Recipes.

    Today's recipe only takes three or four ingredients, depending on whether you want to add chili powder. I always make this optional since I am not a spicy food person, but my husband loves it.

    John would have me add chili powder to every recipe if he could.

    These slow-cooker brown sugar kielbasa bites are the perfect party appetizer. They take a few minutes to prep, and the CrockPot does all the work. The most work you have to do is cut up the kielbasa and drop the ingredients into the slow cooker.

    Right before serving, stir the kielbasa, and thatโ€™s it! Seriously, this recipe is so easy it is incredible.

    Ingredients Needed

    Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make epic CrockPot Brown Sugar Kielbasa Bites! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.

    • Kielbasa Polish Sausage
    • Brown Sugar
    • Coke
    • Chili Powder

    To make this a complete meal or main course serve with rice, potatoes, beans, or cabbage.

    Equipment Needed

    Crockpot - I really like these 6-quart crockpots with a digital timer. It is great knowing the crockpot will switch to warm if I am not home or forget to turn it down after the cooking time.

    Large Serving spoon or ladle - I like these large serving spoons instead of the spaghetti spoons or spoons with edges since they seem to get caught in the kielbasa.

    Serving Platter - Make sure to use a platter that has sides so the liquid is contained. You don't want to have the brown sugar coke sauce dripping down the sides of a flat platter.

    Bamboo Appetizer Forks - These are great for serving the kielbasa and making sure it doesn't fall on your guest's clothes.

    Bamboo Cocktail Picks - These work great if you are having a party.

    Mini Tongs - These would work great for allowing guests to serve themselves.

     

    How to Make CrockPot Brown Sugar Kielbasa Bites

    I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

    1. Cut kielbasa sausage into ยฝ-inch pieces and place in the slow cooker.
    2. Add in Coke, brown sugar, and chili powder.

    Preparation and Storage

    Make Ahead: This slow cooker kielbasa appetizer takes three hours on low or six hours on high to come together in your CrockPot, giving you time to work on other game day menu items or simply relax until itโ€™s time to eat.

    Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and enjoy them within three to four days.

    Freezing/How to Freeze: Freeze leftover Brown Sugar Kielbasa in an airtight, freezer-safe container or Ziploc bag and enjoy them within three months.

    How to Reheat: You can reheat leftover portions of these cocktail sausage bites using your microwave, stovetop, or a CrockPot set to low, depending on how many you need to heat up.

    Recipe Variations

    Substitutions: Any brand of cola works in this recipe, including generic versions, as long as you enjoy drinking it.

    You can use beef, pork, or turkey kielbasa or another type of sausage.

    Vegetarian + Vegan Option: Replace the kielbasa with a meatless alternative to make this recipe vegetarian and vegan.

    Gluten-Free: The ingredients in this recipe should be gluten-free, but check for a gluten-free label on each if you are highly sensitive and want to avoid cross-contamination.

    Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: We use 2.5 pounds of sliced kielbasa to make 32 pieces of Brown Sugar Kielbasa, or enough to fill a medium-sized serving dish. Scale the written recipe up or down to your desired yield, working in batches as needed if you scale up.

    Make It Spicy: Add more chili powder or red pepper flakes to kick up the heat.

    Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 7 grams of sugar per serving. Make it sugar-free with sugar-free Coke and a sugar-free brown sugar substitute.
