These pecans are delicious and easy to make.

A candy thermometer can help monitor the sugar as it reaches a hard boil; this step is probably the most challenging part of the recipe.

    Preparation and Storage

Make Ahead + Storage: These Guinness Glazed Pecans are make-ahead-friendly! Leftovers stored in an airtight container can remain in the fridge for about a week.

Freezing/How to Freeze: Freeze leftovers in an airtight, freezer-safe container or bag and enjoy within two months.

How to Reheat: Transfer frozen portions to the fridge to thaw overnight.

    Recipe Variations

Substitutions: We used the original Guinness Draught Stout Beer for familiarity. Any Guinness variety works for a different flavor that still captures the spirit of Guinness beer.

Vegetarian Option: This sweet nut recipe is vegetarian.

Vegan Option: Guinness is vegan, so youโ€™ll only need to swap the butter with a plant-based alternative to make this recipe vegan.

Gluten-Free: Guinness is not gluten-free, so gluten-free drinkers should use a gluten-free stout beer.

Alcohol-Free Option: Replace the Guinness with a non-alcoholic stout to make this recipe alcohol-free.

Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: The written recipe makes eight servings. Scale it up or down to your desired yield.

Make It Spicy: Add cayenne, chili, or chipotle powder to the sugar and butter mixture to spice up your glazed pecans.

Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 55 grams of sugar per serving. Use a sugar-free substitute for brown sugar to make it sugar-free.

Tips for the Best Guinness Glazed Pecans

    • Weโ€™ve seen other recipes that replace the butter with bacon grease. You can try making your Guinness Glazed Pecans this way if you prefer them on the savory side. As many Southerners are known to do, we like saving bacon grease in a jar to use in recipes like our Bacon Gravy or Southern-Style Green Beans.

What to Serve with Guinness Glazed Pecans

These Guinness Glazed Pecans would be fantastic as a bar snack for St. Patrickโ€™s Day! Here are some menu planning suggestions for all-day Irish-inspired feasting.

Sides: CrockPot Reuben Dip, Guinness Beer Cheese Dip, Guinness Beer Bread, Celtic Knot Rolls, Southern Fried Cabbage with Bacon

Main Dishes: Crock Pot Corned Beef and Cabbage, CrockPot Guinness Corned Beef and Cabbage, Crock Pot Guinness Stew, Corned Beef Shepherd's Pie

Desserts: Guinness Chocolate Cupcakes, Guinness Chocolate Cake, Watergate Salad
