Irish Flag Shot

This layered green, white and orange layered shot is meant to represent the tri-color flag of Ireland. The flag itself is a vertical tricolour of green, white and orange.

The shot is made by slowly pouring each layer into a shot glass. In order to get the distinct layers you need to pour over the back of a spoon to keep the liqueurs from mixing together.

This is the perfect shot for a St. Patrick's Day party!

I love St. Patrick's Day and really hope to celebrate it in Dublin, Ireland one day. I have had the opportunity to travel to Ireland twice and both times I fell madly deeply in love with the country. It was hard to get on a plane and fly home from Ireland.

One of my life goals is to be able to spend a month exploring Ireland and tracing my family history. Until this dream comes true I will have to keep making fun St. Patrick's Day recipes. LOL.

Ingredients Needed

  • Green Crème de Menthe
  • Baileys Irish Cream
  • Grand Marnier orange liqueur

Equipment Needed

2 oz shot glass - tall straight shot glasses work the best for this shot recipe. They help create the distinct lines and are the easiest to pour into.

Bar Spoon/small spoon

We use OXO Measured Jiggers to make layered drinks. They are easy to hold and pour perfectly.

How to make an Irish Flag Shot

Step 1 - Pour the Crème de Menthe into the shot glass. Try to pour in the middle of the glass so the green liquid does not get onto the sides of the shot glass.

This will help keep your layers distinct.

Step 2 - Slowly pour the Baileys Irish Cream over the back of a bar spoon onto the green creme de menthe.

Try to pour as slowly as you can manage to keep the colors from mixing.

Step 3 - Rotate the shot glass so you are pouring on the opposite side you poured the Baileys. This will help keep the layers distinct. Wipe the Baileys off the bar spoon before pouring the Grand Marnier.

Slowly pour the Grand Marnier over the back of the bar spoon.

Enjoy! Check out these Irish Toasts to give while cheering with this St. Patrick's Day Cocktail Shot.

Recipe Tips

The ratio for this drink is ⅓ of each liquor.

A small spoon will work if you don't have a bartending spoon. Check to make sure the spoon fits inside the shot glass and can be used easily.
