Mummy Rice Krispie Treats

Today is Day 5 of Mummy Week! So far we have shared Mummy Dogs, Mummy Doughnuts, Mummy Twinkies, and Mummy Brownies.

If this is your first mummy dessert you may be wondering why in the world I started a mummy week of recipes. My dear fantastic husband challenged me to see how many things I could mummify.

Armed with a couple of containers of candy eyes and some candy melts I decided to deep diving into all things mummy.

Nothing is safe in the pantry this week as I try to make cute mummy Halloween desserts.

I am working on some savory recipes to balance out all of the easy Halloween treats that have been turned into mummies.

Pair these Mummy Krispie Treats with our Frankenstein Rice Krispie Treats and Pumpkin Rice Krispie Treats for a fun Halloween dessert board.

Ingredients Needed

  • Rice Krispie Treats - store-bought or homemade rice Krispie treats
  • Almond Bark/ White Candy melts
  • Candy Eyes

Rice Krispie Treats - We LOVE Homemade Rice Krispie Treats but for these Halloween Rice Krispie Treats I like to just buy a box of pre-made treats from the grocery store. That way I know that every treat is the same size and I don't have to stress about making the treats on an already crazy busy holiday week.

If you are making homemade rice Krispie Treats you will need Rice Krispie cereal, vanilla extract, butter, and marshmallows.

Equipment Needed

Large Mixing Bowl - We are big fans of this glass batter bowl that has a handle. It is large enough to easily dip the Rice Krispie Treats in the melted candy melts without getting chocolate all over your hands.

Parchment Paper -  I love that I can use parchment paper to help make it easier to clean up and remove the treats from the baking sheet.

Baking Sheets - We are huge fans of these baking sheets with sides. You don't have to worry; you are going to drop the rice krispie treats over the edge while moving them.

How to make Mummy Rice Krispie Treats

Step 1 - Prepare Rice Krispie Treats or unwrap store bought treats and prep other supplies.

Step 2 - Melt candy melts in the microwave in 30-second intervals, making sure to stir the white chocolate after every interval.

Step 3 - Carefully dip the Rice Krispie treats in the melted chocolate/almond bark. We dip ⅔ of the way and leave the back of the treats uncoated to make it easier to move them.

Step 4 - Attach candy eyeballs to the treats and allow base coat of chocolate to set.

Step 5 - Use a zigzag pattern to spread/drizzle the white chocolate in ribbons to create the mummy bandages.

Recipe Tips

Total Time and Prep Time will depend on the type of Rice Krispie Treats you are using.

You can use a piping bag or plastic bag with the corner cut off if you want consistent size mummy wrap bandages.
