I love how easy this Eggnog French Toast is to make! It is a great Christmas morning breakfast paired with your favorite sides like bacon, sausage, hashbrowns, and eggs.

Such a fun twist on classic French Toast.

Have you been following along on my quest to use all of the eggnog I bought from Costco? I am happy to say I have finally finished one of the giant jugs of eggnog and moved onto the second container. Who knew there could be so much eggnog in 2 Costco size jugs. LOL!

My husband keeps laughing that everything I am making has eggnog in it right now...which is so true. I may have a goal list of eggnog recipes to perfect leading into Christmas.

This is the only time of year I can find jugs of eggnog at the store so I am making the best of it and working on a ton of new recipes. At some point I will make a homemade eggnog but I need to get through all of the containers I bought from Costco first.

I am guessing if you are reading this recipe post that you are on team eggnog or someone in your family is. I have found that most people are either for eggnog or absolutely hate it and there isn't much middle ground.

My sister in law has been sending me hilarious meme's about her hate of eggnog.

What is your favorite holiday breakfast? Do you have a specific menu you make for Christmas breakfast? This holiday season we are trying a ton of new things and seeing what we want to share in the future.

We love pairing this French toast with Eggnog Coffee!

This is a quick overview of the simple ingredients that you'll need to make Eggnog French Toast! Specific measurements and step-by-step instructions are included in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

    Cinnamon and sugar

    Equipment Needed

    • Teaspoons/measuring tools
    • Non stick cooking spray
    • Griddle/Pan/Large skillet
    • Spatula

How to make Eggnog French Toast

I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

Eggnog French Toast ingredients in a glass pan

Step 1 - Add all ingredients into an 8x8 baking dish or similar shallow dish.

One of the best parts of this recipe is you can mix everything together in one baking dish.

Step 2 - Whisk all of the egg mixture ingredients together until evenly mixed and the eggs are broken up.

Step 3 - Place bread slice in eggnog custard mixture and let the bread soak on both sides. Make sure to push down the middle section to ensure it is evenly coated with the outer edges.

Step 4 - Remove bread slice from egg nog mixture making sure to allow the excess drip.

Place in a medium heat pan with butter or non-stick spray already sprayed in it.

Cook on both sides until nice and golden brown.

Step 5 - Serve with maple syrup, whipped cream, and all of your favorite toppings.

    Preparation and Storage

Make Ahead โ€“ We do not suggest making this French toast to far ahead of time. You can make the individual pieces of bread and keep them in the oven at 200 degrees until ready to serve. You can also make the eggnog French toast batter ahead of time and store it in the fridge.

Storage โ€“ store leftover French Toast in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a 3 days.

Freezing/How to freeze โ€“ Leftovers can be frozen in a freezer safe bag or container for up to 3 months. Make sure to mark the date on the container.

How to reheat โ€“ Leftover French toast can be reheated in a toaster oven, microwave, air fryer, or the oven.

    Recipe Variations

Substitutions - If you want to lower the amount of eggnog flavor you can lower the amount used and add in a bit of milk.

Vegetarian Option - This recipe is vegetarian

Vegan Option โ€“ Vegan eggnog can be used

Gluten Free - Gluten free bread can be used

Smaller Serving Size โ€“ This recipe can easily be adapted. Just change the serving size on the recipe card below. You can also make it as is and save the French Toast batter in a container to use another day.

Larger Group/More servings โ€“ This recipe can easily be doubled for a large group. If you are serving everyone at the same time we suggest placing each slice of Eggnog French Toast on a rimmed baking sheet in the oven to keep it warm until the entire meal is ready.

    Recipe Tips

Make sure to use sturdy enough bread that it will not all apart after soaking in the eggnog batter. There is nothing like picking the slice of bread up and having it fall apart before you can get it into the heated pan.

Thick cut bread will hold up great for this recipe.
