Crockpot Hoppin John Recipe

You don't have to wait for New Years Day to serve this Hoppin John recipe! It is good year-round! The perfect combination of rice and andouille sausage this recipe has a hint of a kick but is not too spicy. You can easily add in extra spice if you want it to be a bit spicier.

Do you have any New Years Day traditions? Anything you do to bring good luck for the upcoming year?

I was reading that some people put a penny under their plate of Hoppin John on New Years Day to boost their money luck in the new year.

When I was researching New Years Day Traditions I thought it was cool that everyone in Brazil wears white to celebrate the new year. They also jump over 7 waves and make a wish for each wave they jump over in Brazil.

Did you know in Denmark they break dishes on friends' and families' doorsteps to bring them good luck. I am not sure how I feel about this tradition. The more broken dishes the luckier you are supposed to be but this really makes me wonder how the person who has to clean it up feels.

I assume the 2 cans of peas just sit next to the crockpot and watch since you don't mention them in the directions...lol

I love Hoppin' John too, even if my husband's name is not on it. 🙂 That looks delicious. I am always on the lookout for good slow cooker meals.
