Crock Pot Sausage Sauerkraut Soup Recipe
One of my favorite things to make in the crockpot is soups! They are so easy to make and the house ends up smelling amazing.
I love being able to make dinner with pantry staples. Throwing everything in the slow cooker and letting it do the work for me is the best thing!
Now that it is starting to feel like fall I feel like it is the perfect time to deep dive into soup season. Break out all the slow cookers and whip up epic soups on a daily basis.
Maybe not daily but at least a few times a week.
We all have such crazy busy lives that having the crockpot take care of dinner feels like such a gift.
German sauerkraut soup is so dang easy to make. Everything goes into the crockpot at one time and all you have to do is wait for it to cook together.
This soup can also be made in a dutch oven on the stovetop. We tend to make it in a slow cooker so it cooks while we are working.
My husband loves sauerkraut so I am always looking for ways to use it in recipes. I even made a sauerkraut salad which is one of our favorite side dishes.
- Stewed tomatoes
- Diced potatoes
- Smoked sausage
- Medium onion
Salt and pepper - to taste
Optional Toppings - sour cream, caraway seeds
Crockpot - We suggest using a crockpot that has a digital timer so it will automatically switch to warm mode. This is a great way to prep dinner ahead of time and have it warm and ready when you are.
Soup Bowl - We like to serve this slow cooker soup in a deep bowl so we can dish up a healthy serving for dinner.

Crockpot Sausage Sauerkraut Soup Recipe
- 29 oz stewed tomatoes two 14.5 oz cans
- 2 cups sauerkraut
- 1 cup potatoes diced
- 1 pound smoked sausage sliced
- 1 medium onion chopped
- Combine all ingredients in crockpot and cook on low for 4-6 hours
