Red White and Blue Angel Food Cake

All you need to make this easy patriotic dessert is an Angel Food Cake Mix, Water, and gel food coloring! That is it!

You can pair this angel food cake with strawberries and blueberries along with dollops of Cool Whip or Whipped Cream to make it even more decadent.

Ingredients Needed

  • Angel Food Cake Mix
  • Water
  • Red and Blue gel food coloring

Equipment Needed

3 Bowls
1 cup measuring cup
Spatula
Bundt Cake Pan

How to make a Patriotic Angel Food Cake

Preheat Oven

Step 1 - Mix together the Angel Food Cake and Water in 1 bowl.

Step 2 - Divide the Angel Food Cake into additional bowls so you have 3 bowls of batter.

Step 3 - Add red gel food coloring to the batter until combined. Add blue gel food coloring into batter until combined.

Step 4 - Pour red batter into the bottom of the Bundt pan

Step 5 - Pour white batter slowly over the red batter

Step 6 - Pour blue batter slowly over white batter and try to cover as much as possible.

Step 7 - Bake

Step 8 - Remove the cake from the Bundt pan and allow to fully cool before slicing.

You can ice the cake, top with powdered sugar, or leave it plain and  have the inside be a surprise.

Recipe Tips

The batter will shift in the pan making it so each piece is unique and fun.

If you don't want to layer the batter you can add it in by the spoonful/cup until you have a mosaic of batter to bake.

We like to serve this Red, White, and Blue layered angel food cake with whipped cream, strawberries, and blueberries.

Be prepared that every piece will look a little different. It is best to not expect the perfect layers.
