My husband and I have been talking about what veggies and salads we can bring to the family holidays this year to bring more green to the table. This Broccoli Salad with Bacon and Cheese will definitely be coming with us for Thanksgiving this year.
This salad looks so bright and fun in a salad bowl but also has bacon and I keep hearing bacon makes everything better. LOL!

She is always telling me I need to get a bacon grease container to save all of the bacon grease if I want to really make southern dishes.
This broccoli salad recipe is my go to side dish for events now. It is one of those recipes that takes minutes to prepare and everyone ends up asking you for the recipe.
Toss everything in a large bowl, cover it, and you are ready to head to your event.
Plus you can make this ahead of time saving time and stress.
- Medium onion
- Cheddar cheese
- White wine vinegar
- Bacon drippings

Plan for this salad to rest in the fridge for a minimum of an hour so the dressing can meld with everything. It is better if it sits for a few hours.
I like to cut the bacon into bite-size pieces, you can also crumble the cooked bacon.
You can buy pre-cut broccoli florets or cut your own depending on how much time you have.
I do not blanch the broccoli but you totally can if you prefer it blanched.
You can easily switch the mayo for Miracle Whip if you prefer that flavor.

Broccoli Bacon Salad Recipe
- 4-5 stalks Broccoli
- ½ pound Bacon
- 1 medium onion diced
- 2 cups cheddar cheese grated
- Cut broccoli into bite size pieces
- Cook bacon and rest on paper towels
- Cut bacon into bite size pieces
- Mix together broccoli, bacon, onion, and cheese in a large bowl.
- Mix dressing ingredients together and then pour over broccoli mixture
- Chill in the fridge for 1-3 hours or overnight
