The closest Raising Cane's Fast Food Restaurant locations to us are in Reno, Nevada, or Portland, Oregon. So, sadly, we only get to enjoy it while traveling.

After trying it on one of our trips, I started making the famous Cane's Sauce at home. During our big Arizona National Park road trip, I decided to stock up on sauce packets to compare my recipe with the restaurant's sauce. My husband laughed when I pulled out an airtight container and extra Ziploc Bags and made space in the cooler for the sauce I bought at the restaurant.

He asked me if I was going to transport sauce from Arizona back to Spokane, Washington, on our road trip, and you know, I just smiled and nodded. The restaurant Chicken Dipping Sauce went on a cross-country road trip via the Grand Canyon and other epic National Parks.

Thankfully, when we got home, it tasted great, and I knew I could use it to compare my sauce recipe to the one we bought in Flagstaff.

Did you know that the sauce is made daily in the restaurant by the general managers, so it is fresh daily?

My husband loves dipping homemade chicken tenders, chicken fingers, and French fries in this dipping sauce. I started making Air Fryer Chicken Tenders and Air Fryer Texas Toast so my dear husband can make a Raising Cane's lunch or dinner plate at home.

How to Make Copycat Raising Cane's Sauce

I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

    1. Combine all ingredients in a bowl and whisk together until combined. Store in the fridge for a few hours before serving.

    ย

    Preparation and Storage

Make Ahead: The Cane's Sauce tastes best when it has sat in the fridge for at least a few hours before serving. The longer it sits in the fridge, the more the flavors mix and intensify.

Storage: Store this dipping sauce in an airtight container in the fridge, and enjoy leftovers within a week.

Freezing/How to Freeze: We do not recommend freezing Caneโ€™s Sauce leftovers since mayonnaise does not freeze well. It will separate, and its texture will become unsalvageable.

    ย

    Recipe Variations

    Substitutions:ย

We use Heinz ketchup in this recipe, but you can use any quality ketchup you think will produce a good sauce.

Similarly, you can use any quality mayonnaise and Worcestershire sauce brand.

Vegetarian Option: Vegetarians should use a Worcestershire sauce that does not contain anchovies.

Vegan Option: In addition to the guidance for vegetarians, vegans should use plant-based mayonnaise to make this recipe vegan.

Gluten-Free: Gluten-free eaters should look for gluten-free labels on the mayonnaise, ketchup, and Worcestershire sauce to avoid cross-contamination and ensure their Caneโ€™s Sauce is safe for a gluten-free diet.

Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: The written recipe makes 20 servings and scales readily to your desired yield. Mix the ingredients in a large mixing bowl to avoid sauce splatters if you scale it up.

Make It Spicy: Raising Caneโ€™s does not make this sauce spicy, but you can make yours with spicy mayo, spicy ketchup, or add a few dashes of cayenne powder for some heat, depending on what you have available and where you want the spice to come from.

Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 2 grams of sugar per serving, with nutritional values varying significantly across condiments. Make your Caneโ€™s Sauce with no-sugar-added ketchup and Worcestershire to make it sugar-free.
