Some days a simple cocktail is the best cocktail! There is a reason classic cocktail recipes continue to be popular.

The combination of lemon-lime soda and different types of tequila is amazing. So refreshing and perfect for any day you want a great cocktail.

We all know a classic margarita is an incredibly popular tequila drink, but we also suggest trying a Paloma,ย Tequila Sunrise, or tequila shots.

Tequila drinks are some of the mostย popular cocktail recipesย we share.

This 2 ingredient cocktail has been called a budget margarita because it tastes so much like a classic simple margarita. We do not use a salt rim for this cocktail but you can if you enjoy the flavor.

    Ingredients Needed

This is a quick overview of the simple ingredients that you'll need to make an epic Tequila & Sprite Cocktail! Specific measurements and step-by-step instructions are included in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post.

    • Tequila
    • Sprite

    Garnish - Fresh Lime Wedge

Tequila - We suggest using Silver Tequila, but you can use whatever tequila you have available. Don't worry if it isn't high-quality tequila; since it is mixing with the sprite the flavor will be diluted.

For a unique flavor try Reposado Tequila which is aged in oak barrels for two to twelve months.

Sprite - You can use regular Sprite, Sprite zero, or any variation and flavor of Sprite you enjoy. This easy cocktail recipe would also taste great with grapefruit soda, coconut soda, or orange soda.

    Equipment Needed

Rocks Glass - Rocks glasses are also called lowball glasses or old fashioned glasses.

Bartending Spoon - The long handle on bartending spoons makes it really easy to stir the cocktails and not make a mess.

OXO angled jiggers - these are our go-to measuring tools for cocktails. They work perfectly for pouring in layers for cocktails.

Ice Cube maker - This ice cube maker produces the most amazing cubes of ice perfect for cocktails. It easily fits in the freezer, and you can make up to 3 trays of round ball ice at a time.

How to make Tequila and Sprite

I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

Step 2 - Pour the tequila to the glass and top with Sprite. Stir with a bar spoon.

Step 3 - Garnish with a lime wedge

    Preparation and Storage

Make Ahead โ€“We do not suggest making this ahead of time. You don't want to lose the carbonation from the Sprite.

Storage โ€“ This is a cocktail that is hard to store due to the carbonation in the Sprite.

    Recipe Variations

Substitutions - Try making this great Sprite Cocktail with flavored Sprite including Sprite Cherry, Sprite Tropical Mix, or Sprite Lymonade. Add in a bit of lemon juice for additional citrus flavor. A little goes a long way.

Variations - If you prefer a different liquor check out our rum and sprite, vodka and sprite, and gin and Sprite cocktails.

Vegetarian Option - This recipe is vegetarian

Vegan Option โ€“ This recipe is vegan.

Gluten Free - This recipe should be gluten-free.

Alcohol Free Option โ€“ NAย Non-Alcoholic Tequila can be used for this recipe. There are some great zero proof tequila on the market.

Smaller Serving Size โ€“ This recipe makes one cocktail, you can change the serving size in the recipe card below.

Larger Group/More servings โ€“ This recipe can easily be doubled or more for larger events. If you are serving this for a large event make sure it doesn't sit out for to long so you don't lose the carbonation of the Sprite.

Sugar Free โ€“ Diet Sprite or Sprite Zero Sugar can be used to lower the calories and sugar

    Recipe Tips

You can adjust the amount of tequila in your cocktail based on taste and how strong you want the drink to be.

Soda is a fantastic mixer for cocktails. We love mixing with Coca-Cola (or Diet Coke), ginger beer, root beer, cream soda, and other flavors of soda pop.

There is no need for a cocktail shaker for this mixed drink recipe. Shaking the Sprite will create a bubbly mess.

Printable recipe card instructions are below.
