I love any dessert recipe that tastes amazing and I can prepare a few hours before a holiday party. This epic cream cheese ball with mini chocolate chips not only tastes amazing but looks so fun when served.
The combination of cream cheese, mini chocolate chips, confectioner sugar, and vanilla is so good! Plus this recipe is crazy easy to make.
I used to think that the cream cheese balls I saw at holiday parties took hours to prepare. Little did I know that they took hours napping in the refrigerator after only a few minutes of preparation. LOL
Now if only I could fit in a few hour nap during the holidays. Anyone else feeling wiped out this year?
This chocolate chip cheeseball is the perfect addition to your appetizer dips. Full of flavor that reminds me of cookie dough it is the perfect easy dessert.
Ingredients needed
- Cream Cheese
- Butter
- Vanilla
- Brown Sugar
- Confectioners Sugar/powdered sugar
- Mini Chocolate Chips
Optional - Chopped pecans, toffee bits, cocoa powder
Serve with graham crackers, chocolate graham crackers, or other dessert cookies, apple slices, vanilla wafers, pretzels, Oreo cookies, animal crackers, or Nilla wafers
Equipment Needed
Large Mixing Bowl - We are big fans of this glass batter bowl that has a handle. It makes it easy to mix ingredients and keeps the mixing bowl steady on the counter.
Hand Mixer/Stand Mixer - You can mix this with either a hand mixer or your stand mixer.
Spatula
Cereal Bowl
Saran Wrap
How to Make a Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball
Step 1 - Cream together the softened cream cheese, vanilla, and butter until creamy.
Slowly add in brown sugar and confectioner sugar until blended.
Step 2 - Stir in mini chocolate chips until evenly spread.
Step 3 - Place a large piece of plastic wrap in a cereal size bowl. Add a handful of mini chocolate chips on top of the saran wrap.
Step 4 - Place cream cheese mixture into the bowl and cover in mini chocolate chips. Make sure to get as many as you can down the sides.
Step 5 - Shape into a ball with the cream cheese mixture and fully wrap it in saran wrap plastic wrap.
Chill in the fridge for at least an hour.
Step 6 - Remove from saran wrap and press in any mini chocolate chips that fall out. Make sure the cream cheese ball is fully covered in chocolate chips.
Serve with graham crackers or other dessert crackers or cookies.
Recipe Tips
This Chocolate Chip Cream Cheese Ball can be made the day before you plan to serve it. Just make sure you set it out before the party so it is soft enough.
You can also roll this in chopped pecans if you want to add nuts to the recipe.
Make sure to set the cream cheese out in enough time it can warm to room temperature. This will make it so much easier to mix with the butter and vanilla.

Ingredients
- 8 Ounce Cream Cheese softened
- ½ cup Butter
- ¼ teaspoon Vanilla Extract
- 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
- ¾ cup Confectioners Powdered Sugar
- 1 cup mini chocolate chips
Instructions
- Beat softened cream cheese, butter, and vanilla together until creamy.
- Slowly add in confectioners and brown sugar until blended.
- Place plastic wrap in a bowl with a handful of mini chocolate chips. Add cream cheese mix on top of the chocolate chips.
- Add chocolate chips around the cream cheese mixture while forming into a ball. Fully wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Serve with graham crackers
