Blue Hawaiian Recipe

You may see this recipe listed as both a Blue Hawaii and a Blue Hawaiian cocktail. I think this may be because Blue Hawaiian Helicopter tours started coming up when people searched instead of a cocktail. LOL!

This tropical drink makes me dream of lounging by the swimming pool and doing absolutely nothing! Having my glass filled with this tropical cocktail and just soaking up the sun.

I am so ready to make this happen!

If you are looking for more tropical cocktails that are perfect for a luau, backyard party, or any day you are dreaming of Hawaii check these out!

All of these cocktails are super easy to make and taste amazing!

How do you make a Blue Hawaiian?

This is honestly a super easy tropical cocktail to make. You can decide if you want it over rocks or frozen.

All you have to do is combine Malibu rum, blue curaçao, pineapple juice.

I have seen people use a sweet and sour mix if they want a different flavor from pineapple juice.

What type of Rum tastes best in the Blue Hawaiian?

You will want to stick with Malibu rum or any light colored rum so your drink stays blue.

Dark rums will change the color and you will lose the Blue Hawaiian magic.

What do you garnish a Blue Hawaii with?

I garnish the Blue Hawaii cocktail with a pineapple slice and maraschino cherry. You can also garnish the drink with an orange slice.

Don’t forget the paper cocktail umbrella to give your drink a totally festive look!

What type of glass should you use for the Blue Hawaiian?

This really depends on the look you are going for.  There are so many cool choices including Hawaiian themed glasses. The standard glass would be a hurricane glass.

How cool to have little lizards running around and stealing sugar. I live in Pennsylvania so that is something I never see, but I can understand how they could be a nuisance or even freak people out. But they look so cool!
