I will admit to making this No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie many times before I was happy with the decorations.

We tried topping it with chocolate swirls, Cool Whip, and chocolate shavings, which were excellent but didnโ€™t look as fun as weโ€™d have liked.

My husband, John, suggested Reeseโ€™s Pieces and peanut butter cups; he may have hoped for leftover Reeseโ€™s Pieces to steal. LOL

To our delight, they became the perfect topper for this epic peanut butter pie recipe!

If you love peanut butter, youโ€™ll LOVE this peanut butter loverโ€™s pie! Itโ€™s delicious and packed with peanut butter flavor.

This is one of our favorite no bake pie recipes!

    Ingredients

Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make an epic No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.

    • Creamy Peanut Butter
    • Powdered Sugar/Confectioners Sugar
    • Cream Cheese
    • Cool Whip Whipped Topping
    • Graham Cracker Crust

Toppings: Chocolate Syrup, Whipped Cream, Peanut Butter Chips, Reese's Pieces, Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Chocolate Chips, Peanuts, Broken Pretzel Pieces

    Holiday Ideas

Halloween: Draw a spider web on the top of the peanut butter cream cheese filling with chocolate sauce. Add a fake spider or draw one to make it a spooky no-bake pie.

Thanksgiving: Decorate with fall-colored M&M's or Reese's Pieces to make it fit the holiday.

    Equipment Needed

    • Large Mixing Bowl:ย  We are big fans of this glass batter bowl with a handle, as this feature makes it easy to mix ingredients and keep the mixing bowl steady on the counter.
    • Hand Mixer/Stand electric Mixer: You can mix this with either a manual hand mixer or your stand mixer.
    • Spatula
    • Pie Dishย

How to Make No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie

I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

    1. Combine the creamy peanut butter, powdered sugar, cream cheese, and Cool Whip until smooth using a hand mixer or electric stand mixer.
    2. Pour the pie filling into a graham cracker crust and chill in the refrigerator

    Preparation and Storage

Make-Ahead: This No-Bake easy Peanut Butter Pie recipe is make-ahead-friendly! We recommend letting it rest in the fridge for two to three hours. Remember that the longer it sets in your refrigerator, the firmer its texture will be.

Storage: Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container that accommodates pie and enjoy them within three days.

Freezing/How to Freeze: Wrap leftover pie portions in plastic and store them in an airtight, freezer-safe container or Ziploc bag to keep the freezer burn at bay. Enjoy them within three months.

How to Reheat: Always serve your peanut butter pie leftovers chilled or just above room temperature, letting frozen portions thaw in the fridge before serving.

    Recipe Variations

    Substitutions:ย

You can use a store-bought or homemade graham cracker crust. We love changing it up and making this with an Oreo Cookie Crust. You can use a Nutter Butter Crust for even more peanut butter flavor.

Weโ€™ve only used creamy peanut butter to make the pie filling. I am unsure whether crunchy peanut butter would work, as the texture would work against the silkiness of a traditional no-bake pie.

Vegetarian Option: This No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie is 100 percent vegetarian!

Vegan Option: Vegans can replace the peanut butter, cream cheese, and Cool Whip with plant-based substitutes to make this anytime dessert vegan. Be sure also to use a plant-based graham cracker crust or Oreo crusts!

Gluten-Free: Use a gluten-free pie crust to make this recipe safe for a gluten-free diet.

Smaller Serving Size: The written recipe makes eight servings, but you can easily make No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie Tarts for a more petite take! Use store-bought or homemade tart shells, and spread the peanut butter and cream cheese mixture into each shell.

Larger Group/More Servings: Multiply the quantity of each ingredient per extra pie you want to make.

Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 19 grams of sugar per serving. Use a sugar-free pie crust and powdered sugar alternative to make it sugar-free.

Tips for the Best No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie

    • Set the cream cheese out to bring it to room temperature so it mixes smoothly with the peanut butter.
    • If you want a fluffy pie, set it out an hour before serving and let it come to room temperature.
