If you have been following our recipes for a while, it will not surprise you that I am all in for any recipe that is easy to make and tastes fantastic.

2 Ingredient Recipes are my thing. Sure, I like baking from scratch and creating epic homemade desserts, but there are days when a quick and easy dessert is needed.

This Cinnamon Roll Apple Bake only needs refrigerator cinnamon rolls and a can of apple pie filling. That is it!

You can easily dress this recipe with pecans, extra cinnamon, ice cream, or any other toppings you love.

We like to serve this for breakfast or brunch, but it is also terrific at night with vanilla bean ice cream. You can even add a bit of caramel sauce if you want to make it even more decadent.

The base of this cinnamon roll apple cobbler is two ingredients, but you can add any additions you love.

    Ingredients

Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients for making an epic Cinnamon Roll Cobbler with Apple Pie Filling! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.

    • Refrigerator Cinnamon Rolls
    • Apple Pie Fillingย

    Equipment Needed

    • Knife for Cutting Cinnamon Rolls
    • 9x13 Casserole Dishย

I bake this Cinnamon Rolls with apple pie filling cobbler in a 3-quart casserole/baking dish. You can use any baking dish you have you just want to make sure that the cinnamon rolls have room to bake and are not super crowded.

One nice thing about the 3-quart baking dish is the cobbler looks like it has more servings. LOL! I find that when we bake this in a smaller dish we tend to scoop more onto our plates.

If you want to make sure the apples and cinnamon rolls are evenly mixed you can add them both in a large bowl and toss them together before pouring them into the casserole dish.

I tend to just put everything into the casserole dish to save having another dish to wash.

You can microwave the icing container for 5-10 seconds when the cinnamon roll apple cobbler comes out of the oven to make it easier to spread.

How to Make 2 Ingredient Cinnamon Roll Apple Cobbler

I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

    1. Preheat oven to 375ยฐF.
    2. Cut cinnamon rolls into fourths and spread them across a greased casserole dish.
    3. Spread apple pie filling around the cinnamon rolls, ensuring there is room for the cinnamon rolls to bake.
    4. Bake until golden brown, drizzle with frosting

    Preparation and Storage

    Make-Ahead + Storage:

Cinnamon Roll Cobbler uses cinnamon roll dough, and premade dough is known for being very make-ahead-friendly! Keep the premade dough refrigerated in an airtight container for up to 24 hours, then leave it on your kitchen countertop for an hour or two before baking to bring it to room temperature for baking.

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge, especially if you add icing on top, and enjoy them within three days.

Freezing/How to Freeze: Freeze leftovers in an airtight, freezer-safe container or Ziploc bag and enjoy them within three months.

How to Reheat: Reheating Cinnamon Roll Cobbler with Apple Pie Filling is as easy as making it! Leftovers reheat in the microwave, oven, air fryer, skillet, or toaster oven.

    Recipe Variations

Substitutions: You can use any brand of refrigerated cinnamon rolls! We used Pillsbury Cinnamon Rolls.

Sprinkle brown sugar over the top for additional flavor on this cinnamon roll casserole.

Spread cream cheese frosting for more epic flavor.

Try this recipe with blueberry, cherry, or other pie filling flavors.

Vegetarian + Vegan Option: While cinnamon roll dough is vegetarian, vegans must opt for a plant-based alternative, as most brands, including Pillsbury, contain milk-derived whey protein.

Gluten-Free: Pillsbury has gluten-free cinnamon roll dough for those looking to avoid gluten.

Smaller Serving Size: Since you donโ€™t have to worry about using the entire tube of premade dough, just use what you need and refrigerate or freeze the rest, depending on how soon youโ€™ll use it.

Larger Group/More Servings: We use one package of refrigerator cinnamon roll dough, so use another tube to double this recipe for a larger group.

    Sugar-Free:ย

The written recipe contains 26 grams of sugar per serving. Replace the apple pie filling and cinnamon roll dough with sugar-free alternatives to make this recipe sugar-free.

If you prefer a sugar-free version, Pillsbury has a Splenda-sweetened sugar-free cinnamon roll dough. The regular kind, which we use in this Cinnamon Roll Apple Cobbler recipe, contains 10 grams of sugar.

Do you spread the icing over the mixture before or after it is baked? The recipe says to spread the icing after baking, but one of the pictures looks like it was added before baking. Looks delicious!

Hi, We spread the icing after it has baked. We let it cool for a few minutes so the icing doesn't completely melt.

I haven't tried making it the night before. My only worry would be keeping the cinnamon rolls soft.
