Today's recipe is all about comfort food! There is just something comforting and oh-so-delicious about stuffing.

I stock up on it when it goes on sale a few weeks before Thanksgiving. But the last thing you want after Thanksgiving is another turkey recipe because you have been swimming in turkey leftovers for weeks.

Don't worry; this CrockPot Chicken Stuffing Casserole Recipe has no turkey. However, you could switch out the chicken for turkey if you wanted to.

The other thing I love about this recipe is that I can use a Costco rotisserie chicken and save myself from having to cook the chicken.

Using pre-cooked rotisserie chickens in CrockPot recipes is one of my favorite time-saving tips!ย  This slow cooker recipe is so easy to put together and tastes fantastic!

Super easy-to-make Crockpot Chicken and Dressing Recipe using rotisserie chicken, stuffing, and a few other ingredients, this slow cooker recipe is the perfect family dinner. Cheesy Homemade comfort food everyone will love!

This chicken casserole with stuffing is so easy to make! I love that using a slow cooker makes life so easy!

Pair this with Cracker Barrel Green Beans, Cracker Barrel Carrots, Cranberry Sauce, or air fryer mushrooms for a great meal.

    Ingredients

Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make an epic CrockPot Chicken and Stuffing! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.

    • Stuffing Mix
    • Cream of Chicken Soup
    • Milk
    • Cooked Boneless Skinless Chicken Breasts
    • Shredded Cheddar Cheese
    • Salt and Pepper

Stuffing - We use Stove Top Stuffing Mix for this recipe but you can use any stuffing you have leftover from Thanksgiving Dinner.

Soup - Feel free to use any flavor cream soup you enjoy. This would taste great with cream of mushroom soup or cream of celery soup.

Optional Extra Flavors - Add in diced onion, poultry seasoning, vegetables, rosemary, herbs, or garlic powder.

Garnish with sour cream if desired.

    Equipment Needed

    • Measuring Spoons
    • Non-Stick Cooking Spray
    • CrockPot: We suggest using a CrockPot with a digital timer that automatically switches the slow cooker setting to warm after a set time.
    • Serving Bowl

How to Make CrockPot Chicken and Stuffing

I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

    1. Prepare stuffing mix according to package directions; place in a slow cooker.
    2. Stir in 2 cans of soup to the stuffing mixture.ย
    3. Stir the remaining soup, milk, and chicken in a separate bowl. Pour into the slow cooker.
    4. Spread cheese over the top.
    5. Cover and cook

    Preparation and Storage

Make-Ahead + Storage: This CrockPot Chicken and Stuffing recipe is make-ahead-friendly! Refrigerate leftovers in an airtight container, and enjoy them within four days.

Freezing/How to Freeze: Transfer freezer-bound leftovers to an airtight, freezer-safe container and enjoy them within three months.

How to Reheat: Reheat cooked leftovers in the microwave or slow cooker, depending on how many portions you prepare. Thaw any frozen Chicken and Stuffing overnight in the fridge to ensure each serving reheats evenly.

    Recipe Variations

    Substitutions:

This recipe uses Stove Top Stuffing mix, but you can use leftover stuffing from Thanksgiving dinner. We love our stuffing crockpot recipe.

Feel free to use any cream soup flavor you enjoy! This dish would also taste yummy with cream of mushroom or celery soup.

This recipe uses shredded cheddar cheese, but you can use any other shredded cheese or cheese blend you enjoy.

Vegetarian Option: Replace the cream of chicken soup and cubed cooked chicken with meat-free alternatives to make this recipe vegetarian.

Vegan Option: In addition to the guidance for vegetarians, vegans should replace the stuffing mix, milk, and shredded cheddar cheese with a plant-based alternative for each ingredient to make this recipe plant-based.

Gluten-Free: Gluten-free diners should replace the stuffing mix and cream of chicken soup with gluten-free alternatives to make this recipe gluten-free, as both ingredients typically contain gluten.

Alcohol-Free Option: We havenโ€™t seen any versions of Chicken and Stuffing containing alcohol.

Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: The written recipe makes six servings. Scale it up or down to your desired yield, keeping in mind that you may need to work in batches if you scale up.

Make it Spicy: Fun Family Meals has a Slow Cooker Chicken and Stuffing using creole seasoning or spicy taco mix to kick up the heat and flavor. Cajun seasoning would also be a yummy addition!

Sugar-Free: This recipe contains six grams of sugar per serving. Use a stuffing mix and cream soup with the lowest sugar content to lower the sugar in the prepared dish.
