I love how easy this dip recipe is to make! In less than 10 minutes, you can make an epic game day appetizer that tastes amazing.

This dip is also called Rotel Dip, sausage Rotel Dip, Sausage Cream Cheese Rotel Dip, the Rotel Sausage Cream Cheese Dip Recipe, or Rotel Dip with Sausage, depending on who you talk to.

The cream cheese adds such an epic creaminess to this terrific cheesy dip.

Do you ever think about hosting a dip party? You could set up a huge table with epic dips and have everyone feast on their favorites.

I think I'm going to work on setting up a giant dip table for our next party and making all of our favorites at once.

Can of Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies, cream cheese, and hot Italian ground sausage on cutting board.

    Ingredients

Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make an epic 3 Ingredient Rotel Sausage Dip! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.

    • Pork Sausage
    • Rotel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chiles
    • Cream Cheeseย

Dippers: Chips, Crackers, Tortilla Chips, corn chips, baguette slices, celery, carrots

Rotel diced tomatoes and green chilies - Rotel tomatoes can be found at most grocery stores or on Amazon. You can get it in different heat levels so make sure to check which one you are buying.

Sausage - You can use a mild, hot Italian, or spicy sausage depending on your flavor choice. I know a lot of people love Jimmy Dean hot sausage.

Optional - Sprinkle with cheddar cheese for a garnish.

Feel free to add salt and pepper as desired.

    Equipment Needed

    • Large Skillet
    • Hamburger Mix and Chop: We love using this tool to break up sausage and other ground meat.

How to make Sausage Cream Cheese Dip

I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

Italian sausage in a cast iron skillet with a mix n chop

Add olive oil to a skillet over medium heat. Add sausage to the skillet. Cook sausage until brown, breaking it into smaller pieces.ย

Drain excess grease from the skillet and return to the heat.

Add Rotel and cream cheese and stir until completely melted.

    Serve warm with chips.

    Preparation and Storage

Make Ahead + Storage: This Rotel Sausage Dip is make-ahead-friendly! Leftovers refrigerated in an airtight container will remain good for three to four days.

Freezing/How to Freeze: We donโ€™t recommend freezing this dip. It contains cream cheese, which turns grainy and unappetizing when frozen and thawed.

How to Reheat: Depending on how much you need to warm up, you can reheat this dip using your microwave or stovetop.

    ย

    Recipe Variations

Substitutions: This recipe adapts to ground beef if you donโ€™t want to use pork sausage. We typically add Velveeta cheese when we use ground beef to change it up.

Vegetarian Option: Replace the ground pork sausage with meatless crumbles to make this Rotel Sausage Dip vegetarian.

Vegan Option: In addition to the guidance for vegetarians, vegans should swap the cream cheese with a plant-based alternative to make this dip vegan.

    Gluten-Free:

This recipe should contain gluten-free ingredients, but double-check the sausage's label, as some brands may contain flavorings and additives that are not gluten-free.

Here is a Gluten-Free Sausage Brand List if you need ideas or want to confirm whether a brand is safe for a gluten-free diet.

Smaller Serving Size: The written recipe makes eight servings. If you need a smaller serving size, scale it down using the slider on the recipe card.

    Make It Spicy:ย

Rotel Diced Tomatoes and Green Chilies are available at most grocery stores and Amazon. Different heat levels are available, so choose a spicy variety if you like heat, and double-check the label to know which one youโ€™re buying.

You can use a mild, hot Italian, or spicy sausage, depending on your flavor choice. I know a lot of people love Jimmy Dean's hot sausage.

Feel free to add a second can of Rotel for more spice or tomato flavor.

    Larger Group/More Servings:

This recipe can easily double, triple, or adjust to any serving size for parties and events. Use the slider in the recipe card to get the serving size you need, and donโ€™t miss our easy dip recipes for parties!

Sugar-Free: This savory dip contains 3 grams of sugar per serving, making it safe for a low-sugar or sugar-free diet.

    • We use the stovetop to make this Rotel Sausage Dip, but it adapts easily to a slow cooker or CrockPot.
    • โ€‹โ€‹To keep this warm at parties, store it in a small Crock Pot on warm and stir it to keep it mixed together.
    • We hope you love this recipe for your Super Bowl Parties or a great snack at home.
