    Recipe Variations

    Substitutions:

Itโ€™s easy to make loaded potatoes in different ways! If you prefer another starch, we have a Texas Roadhouse Loaded Sweet Potato and a CrockPot Loaded Mashed Cauliflower recipe.

Chicken broth can be used instead of stock.

Garlic powder can be added for more flavor.

Vegetarian Option: Replace the chicken stock with vegetable stock and the bacon with a meat-free alternative to make this recipe meat-free.

Vegan Option: In addition to the guidance for vegetarians, vegans should replace sour cream and shredded cheddar cheese with plant-based alternatives.

Gluten-Free: Gluten-free eaters should use chicken stock labeled gluten-free, as this ingredient is the most likely to contain gluten.

Alcohol-Free Option: We havenโ€™t seen versions of this recipe using alcohol, and we donโ€™t make ours with any alcohol.

Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: The written recipe makes six servings. Scale it up or down to your desired yield, keeping in mind that you may need to work in batches if you scale up.

Make it Spicy: Add fresh chopped jalapeรฑos to turn your CrockPot Loaded Mashed Potatoes into Jalapeรฑo Popper Potatoes!

Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 2 grams of sugar per serving.

Tips for the Best CrockPot Loaded Mashed Potatoes

    • Donโ€™t drain the broth from your mashed potatoes! Mashing the potatoes with the broth keeps them moist and flavorful.
    • Perfect loaded potatoes will look and taste different to everyone, so mash them to your desired texture and incorporate add-ins that your family enjoys.
    • This recipe works with peeled or unpeeled potatoes, depending on whether you prefer your mashed potatoes with skins mixed in or creamy and skin-free.
