    This recipe is the perfect vegetable side dish to make crispy Brussels sprouts in less than 12 minutes. They are quick and easy, with epic flavor from the olive oil, garlic powder, and salt and pepper.

    It is a great vegetable side dish that takes minutes to prepare and tastes fantastic.

    I must admit something; I didn't realize that Brussels sprouts grew on stalks until I walked into Trader Joe's one day and wondered what the green globes on a stem were. I had to walk over to their display outside the store and investigate what they were.

    Thank goodness for store signs explaining what they were. Who knew going grocery shopping could be such an educational moment? LOL!

    We used to cook Brussels sprouts in the oven, but it felt like it took a long time to heat the oven and wait for them to cook. Now, we love using our air fryer for all the vegetable side dishes, along with a few appetizers and French fries.

    I reach for the air fryer almost every day to whip something up during the day. I love not heating the house with the oven and how easy it is to clean. It is my go-to extra kitchen appliance right now.

    Ingredients

    Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make epic Air Fryer Brussels Sprouts! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.

    • Raw, Whole Brussels Sprouts
    • Olive Oil/Avocado Oil
    • Salt and Pepper
    • Garlic Powder

    Optional Seasonings: Lemon Juice, Sprinkle a bit of Parmesan Cheese, Drizzle with Balsamic glaze or balsamic vinegar, Kosher Salt, Red Pepper Flakes, Sriracha sauce

    Equipment Needed

    • Air Fryer: We suggest getting an air fryer that is bigger than you think you will need. We found once we started using the air fryer, we ended up using it for more meals and larger meals.
    • Sharp Knife
    • Cutting Board
    • Large Bowl
    • Kitchen Tongs: We highly suggest getting a good pair of kitchen tongs to remove items from the air fryer and save your hands from getting burned.ย 

    How to make Air Fryer Brussel Sprouts

    I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

    Step 1 - Clean and cut Brussel sprouts in half. Add to a large bowl.

    Step 2 - Spray or toss with olive or avocado oil and season with garlic powder, salt, and pepper, ensuring that each has an even coating.

    Step 3 - Spread Brussels sprouts evenly in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Air fry at 400ยฐF, shaking the basket or tray halfway through cooking.

    The outer leaves crisp and the insides are tender.

    Step 4 - Serve hot

    Preparation and Storage

    Make Ahead: If you have time and want extra flavorful veggies, marinate your Brussels sprouts for two hours before roasting them in the air fryer.

    Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container and enjoy them within four days.

    Freezing/How to Freeze: Freeze leftover Brussels sprouts in an airtight, freezer-safe container and enjoy them within three months.

    How to Reheat: You can reheat your Brussels sprouts to crispy goodness using the air fryer.

    Substitutions:ย 

    We season our Brussels sprouts with avocado or olive oil, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, but you can use any cooking oil or seasoning blend that makes them pair with your meal.

    If you use frozen Brussels sprouts, ensure they have space in the air fryer. You should add a few minutes to the cooking time.

    Vegetarian + Vegan Option: This recipe is naturally vegetarian and vegan, as the core ingredients are Brussels sprouts, cooking oil, and seasonings.

    Gluten-Free: This recipe is also naturally gluten-free.

    Alcohol-Free Option: We do not make these veggies with any alcohol, but check out this recipe for cognac-infused and maple-bourbon Brussels sprouts for an adult-only twist.

    Smaller Serving Size + Larger Group/More Servings: We use three cups of Brussels sprouts to make four servings. Scale the written recipe up or down according to your desired yield, working in batches if your air fryer capacity is smaller and youโ€™re making a big batch.

    Ingredients

    • 3 cups Brussel Sprouts
    • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
    • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
    • 1 teaspoon Salt
    • ยผ teaspoon Black Pepper

    Instructions

    • Cut brussel sprouts in half, add to a bowl.
    • Top brussel sprouts with oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper. Toss to coat evenly.
    • Add in a single layer to the air fryer basket.
    • Air fry at 375 degrees for 8-12 minutes, shake basket a couple of times while cooking.
