This Crock Pot Creamed Corn Recipe is so easy to make and tastes fantastic! I mean, seriously, impressive despite being a simple comfort dish. I may have a new favorite treat for year-round.

This slow cooker side dish recipe saves you space in the oven on Thanksgiving and uses items probably already in your freezer!

We have talked about how much we love stocking our freezer with fruits and veggies.

The University of California, Davis, in partnership with the Frozen Food Foundation, conducted a study that revealed that frozen fruit and vegetables are most often nutritionally equal to and, in some cases, better than their fresh counterparts!

The nutritional value of frozen produce is another reason to keep a fully stocked freezer with all your favorite fruits and veggies.

By freezing your favorite fruits and veggies, you are pushing nature's pause button, which helps you save money and enjoy your favorite fruits and veggies year-round.

We don't have to worry about the cost of fresh out-of-season produce or about opening the crisper drawer and finding our fruits and veggies spoiled before we can eat them.

I have found that having a stocked freezer saves us so much time and stress.

We don't have to run out and grab something for dinner or worry about what I will prepare. I have all of our favorites stocked in the freezer and can buy them when they are at peak freshness and the best price.

This Crock Pot Creamed Corn Recipe was simple, thanks to our stocked freezer. I grabbed frozen corn, butter, and cream cheese, and we could dive into cooking.

This recipe is perfect for a quick, easy vegetable side dish your family will love! Perfect for Thanksgiving dinner or Christmas Dinner.

This CrockPot creamed sweet corn pairs perfectly with turkey, pot roast, pork chops, ham, or chicken. It is one of our favorite easy crockpot side dishes.

You can save oven space and stovetop space and use your slow cooker to make this epic creamed corn packed with flavor.

    Ingredients

Here is a quick overview of the simple ingredients needed to make an epic CrockPot Creamed Corn! The printable recipe card at the bottom of the post includes specific measurements and step-by-step instructions.

    • Frozen Corn Kernels
    • Cream Cheese
    • Butter
    • Sugar
    • Salt and Pepper

Optional add ins - bacon, onion, green onions,

Garnish options - rosemary, fresh thyme, fresh parsley, chives, parmesan cheese,

You can easily double or triple this recipe depending on how big of a feast you are serving.

To make this creamier you can add in a cup milk.

    Equipment Needed

    • CrockPot: We suggest using a Crockpot with a digital timer that automatically switches the slow cooker setting to warm after a set time.
    • Serving Bowl

How to Make CrockPot Creamed Corn

I've included complete instructions in the printable recipe card at the bottom of the post, but here's a quick version.

    1. Place corn in CrockPot and add butter, cream cheese, and sugar. Add salt and pepper to taste.
    2. Stir well, cover, and cook on low for 4 hours or high for 2 hours.
    3. Stir halfway through cooking time and right before serving.

    Preparation and Storage

Make-Ahead: CrockPot Creamed Corn is make-ahead-friendly! Leftovers are safe to enjoy up to three days after making a batch.

Storage: I store the slow cooker creamed corn leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge. It heats up great in the microwave for the next few days.

Freezing/How to Freeze: The University of Georgiaโ€™s National Center for Home Food Preservation recommends blanching creamed corn before freezing to preserve its flavor. Store your frozen leftovers in an airtight, freezer-safe freezer bag or container, where theyโ€™ll remain good for about six months.

How to Reheat: Reheat cooked and frozen leftovers using your microwave or stovetop.

    ย

    Recipe Variations

Substitutions: You can use frozen or canned corn for this recipe. I use whatever we have in the house.

Vegetarian Option: This recipe is vegetarian-friendly!

Vegan Option: Our creamed corn recipe is safe for vegan diets if you replace the cream cheese and butter with plant-based alternatives.

Gluten-Free: All of the ingredients in this dish are naturally gluten-free, but check the product labels on the ingredients you plan to use to confirm.

Smaller Serving Size: We use a 24-ounce bag of frozen corn to yield eight servings. Scale the written recipe down for fewer servings.

Make it Spicy: Weโ€™ve seen fun Southwestern takes that add green chilies or jalapenos to infuse flavor and heat into creamed corn.

    Larger Group/More Servings:

You can easily double or triple this recipe to serve a large crowd. I have made it with upwards of 6-8 cans of corn for huge family gatherings. Just make sure to stir it thoroughly so all of the corn gets coated.

Add the cream cheese/butter/sugar in layers if you do a large batch to distribute the ingredients evenly. Use the regular recipe twice or three times, depending on how large a group you feed.

Sugar-Free: The written recipe contains 4 grams of sugar. Replace the white sugar with a sugar-free alternative to make it sugar-free.

Tips for the Best CrockPot Creamed Corn

    • One thing I love about this creamed corn CrockPot recipe is you can easily add more corn if you find out more people are coming over than planned. The cream cheese coating may be a little thinner than initially planned, but it tastes incredible.
    • For years, I have dumped in another two cans of corn because we found out more people would be at our Thanksgiving gathering than we thought would be there.
    • You can use frozen or canned corn for this recipe. I tend to use whatever we have in the house.
    • If you are serving a large crowd, you can easily double or triple this recipe. I have made it with upwards of 6-8 cans of corn in the past for huge family gatherings. Just make sure to stir it completely, so all of the corn gets coated.
    • If you are doing a large batch, you can add the cream cheese/butter/sugar in layers. Use the regular recipe twice or three times, depending on how big of a group you are feeding.

My family loves corn! That's something we usually buy frozen since we don't eat it on the ear very often. It's always handy to have frozen vegetables on hand.

That looks so delicious! I love creamed corn. It's one of the few veggies I'll eat as a picky eater. I know, it's technically a starch or something, but to me, it counts as a vegetable!
